Rolex 2014-Cross Country Wrap Up

April 27, 2014

As with any event, there were a few who did not make the course and retired early.  Here’s To You, in 15th place coming into the day’s competition, ran out at the Normandy Bank and retired on the dayRelentless Pursuit had three refusals and was eliminated.  Collection Pass and Madison Park both fell, both horse and rider are ok.  The spirited “red head” chestnut mare, Expedience and rider Kaitlin Spurlock, had a freak accident at the Head of the Lake.  She walked onto a trailer and was later diagnosed with a fractured foot.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her and Kaitlin. She will undergo surgical evaluation on Sunday.

The final day of Rolex features show jumping and will determine the winner of America’s toughest test of champions.  The remaining 39 pairs will underwent a second horse evaluation at 9am this morning.  Of the nine remaining OTTBs, eight were accepted.  Colleen Rutledge chose to withdraw Shiraz after being sent to the holding box for further evaluation.  One of the top 4, Mr. Medicott, was withdrawn as well this morning, allowing Mensa G to move up one placing and into 4th on the leaderboard.

In for today’s show jumping (with current placings) are:

Mensa G (4th)

Pirate (18th)
